LUKE IVY PRICe
Luke Ivy Price is an American artist who lives and works in New York City.
Although Price’s practice is rooted in narratives that display his passion for history (especially art history), his gestural abstraction of the human form places primary importance on the inspection of emotions and interpersonal relationships.
A self-described follower of the modernist tradition, Price believes craft and respect for materials is essential.
Having trained and worked professionally in illustration, painting, carpentry, silversmithing, toolmaking, set building, etc., Price has broad experience working with a variety of materials. This eclectic experience has generated resourceful and ingenuitive combinations in his sculptures, paintings, and craft works.
Price's work has been exhibited nationally - in New York, Miami, and his home state of North Carolina, where he left his day job at a cotton mill and board seat on the local arts council to pursue his career in New York.
